KEYWORDS:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The information in this article applies to:
- Microsoft Windows NT operating system version 3.1
- Microsoft Windows NT Advanced Server version 3.1
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
SYMPTOMS
========
Windows NT may fail during setup on the Olivetti 486/33 M480-20 with the
following error message:
Setup could not be started.
Could not open multi(0)disk(0)fdisk(0)partition(0)
ARC status-13 Loader exited.
CAUSE
=====
The Olivetti 486/33 M480-20 has an option for PS/2 mouse compatibility in
CMOS setup; this option is on by default.
RESOLUTION
==========
To allow Windows NT to set up, disable the PS/2-compatible mouse port
option in CMOS. If you are using the PS/2 mouse port on this computer,
Windows NT will not run. A serial mouse on either COM1 or COM2 must be
used.
